Q: Can a 16 year old in Florida decide to leave one parents house and move to the others without any legal intervention?
My 16 1/2 year old son lives with his father, the conditions at his house are unacceptable i.e.: no electric or food, and the house is in deplorable condition, and the father doesn't work. I want to know if my son can pack his stuff up and leave to come live with me. I have a stable job and housing and I am able to support him (I already do)
A: If his father has a court degree giving him custody, he could in theory ask the court to enforce that decree. If what you say is correct, and you can so prove it, it is doubtful that the court would enforce it.
