Fontana, CA asked in Family Law, Child Custody and Child Support for California

Q: never had physical custody I've been clean for 2 years and want custody. Can I be denied and hit with child support?

Child's father has custody but he is using heroin and has left the child with his mother and sister. I have never had to pay child support and have never had more than a weekend of visitation. And my child does not want to live with me at all, she is 12

A: You can request custody and visitation by filing for that in court. Child support is based on the income of the parties and the custody arrangement. The child's opinion is only part of the equation.
