A: First, you must respond to the lawsuit, on time. If you do not, you could lose without any trial. If you have liability insurance, the insurance company will provide you with a lawyer who will defend you. If you do not have insurance, you need to have an attorney review all the facts. Have a consultation right away.

A: Did she make a claim or sue? If she sued you must get an attorney. Your insurance should pay for that but you must notify them--1)by phone 2)by letter 3)email, fax also. Send them a copy of whatever you were served with. If it's a claim, then just deal with the person via their insurance.

If they damaged the bed get an estimate--worth showing they freaked out, wasn't on you.
