Q: How can I terminate the biological fathers rights to an unborn baby?
The father is very unstable and has been to jail recently for beating a woman and also has a past of doing hard drugs and selling them. He got mad and told me to terminate the baby at 14 weeks and that he wanted nothing to do with us. The next day I asked him to sign his rights over but he refuses. How do I get his rights restricted and is this enough to restrict them?
A: You cannot terminate the father's rights while pregnant. After the baby is born, you have all rights to custody. He has to file a case in order to obtain any rights. At that time, you may object if you wish.
