Q: My employer publicy post the expiration date of Employment Authorization Card, is this legal?

It is a common practice for my employer( hospital) to post notices on expiration dates of licenses and certification, but this particular hospital also post the expiration dates of your green card or employment authorization card? Did my employer violate my privacy by posting my immigration status publicly? Thank you

A: This is a tough question. You have a privacy interest in keeping your immigration status known only to those few who are entitled to that information; certainly an employer has the legal obligation to know all employees are legally entitled to work, and therefore you have the obligation to supply that information to them.

The more difficult question is whether the employer has a corresponding right to publicly disclose your work status. You will need to consult with an experienced employment rights attorney and an immigration lawyer to get appropriate advice in your case. I urge you to do so without delay.
