Q: use tax audit help --legal question

i harave selected for use tax/sales tax audit for my las 3 years of my home based busines. i have filed total 7 tax quarters and 1 yearly tax files. each of them have tons of mistakes in the numbers. each of them resulted a credit on average 3000 dollars which state of ca never paid me and i was ok with it .

now i am selected for audit. i recalculated and see if i correct those mistakes i made i still end up with credit balance. the example of mistakes are , total sales 300k instead of 340k.

interstate sales deduction 2k instead of 18k .

tax paid purchase deduction 40k instead of 55k etc.

now i know i will not get those refund and i do not want it but , my question is i have too many errors in each file and i am afraid if they charge me legally for those like tax fraud or similar things ----appreciate your help.

A: Tax law is an exacting field. Without all your actual paperwork you have not stated a question. I have no idea of what your actual situation is. However, I would note that I have not seen people who overpaid get in trouble.

You are talking about many thousands of dollars here. Some people might think it is penny wise and pound foolish to try to avoid paying an attorney.
