Union City, NJ asked in Real Estate Law and Landlord - Tenant for New York

Q: My mother owns a house in MY and let my sister and her husband move in and they are causing problems.

They moved in and are now acting like they own they house. They are trying to throw out or donate furniture from the property that she told them she doesn't want them getting rid of. They still plan toget rid of it telling her it is junk (it isn't) and that "they don't want it in their house"

I told my mom she needs to get some kind of rental agreement for them to sign because my mom is letting them stay in this house if they pay the taxes on it and whatever utilities they make while living there. She didn't make then sign anything or put down a deposit because it was family. I told her that was a bad idea and she needs them to sign some kind of rental agreement that includes they can't just throw out her stuff. I just need advice for her.
