Sanford, FL asked in Divorce and Family Law for Florida

Q: Spouse visa expires in September and is moving out the country. Will the divorce still go through?

In the process of getting a dissolution of marriage. We have no kids or any financial binding. I filed back in February and still haven’t heard anything. They have all the paperwork required. Every time I call the court house, I’m told they are backed up. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? I’m concerned since my spouse visa expires in September and is moving back to their country. Would that affect the divorce although everything is signed?

A: You must hire an experienced divorce lawyer to get this done quickly. As a layperson, you do not know how to negotiate the court system, therefore, you will get the excuse that they are "backed up." Good luck
