Edmond, OK asked in Child Custody and Family Law for Oklahoma

Q: No money, but how do we advocate for our child? Mom moved in with her bf with a rap sheet a mile long, is bipolar, and.

Has changed the child school twice now and she's only about to be in 1st grade. She has "final say" which she uses out of context. We have child week on and week off. She goes out of town and cuts into my husbands time with his child. And does not allow him to make up the time she took from him. We have been documenting everything. Saved text messages from her. What options do we have that doesn't cost an arm and leg?? There has to be some way to enforce the paperwork! She is violating his visitation rights!

A: The only way is to go back to court, and file a motion to modify. The Judge upon request can appoint a Guardian ad Litem, GAL for the child. The welfare of the child is certainly worth whatever cost it takes! You should consult an experienced Family Law attorney for help.

A: See my previous answer. If you have a low enough income to qualify, you can seek help from Legal Aid Services. They are very busy, so be sure to emphasize that the child is in danger, with details. The father should make contact, not you.

As a last resort, contact DHS.
