New York, NY asked in Criminal Law for New York

Q: Can my boyfriends ex girlfriend get in trouble for breaking and entering?

My boyfriends ex is upset that he broke up with her. She has been sending us harassing text messages, and to make a long story short we told local police. They can't do much about it so they called her and told her to stop. Since then we have her blocked on everything, social media included. Texts have subsided, but this morning my boyfriend said his car door was ajar and he found a card from her on his dash. He did not leave his car door open prior so she went in at night and did that. At this point we do not know if she did anything else to the car. She lives almost an hour away from him, I am scared if she is willing to drive all that time to do this, she will come back and do something worse. Is there anything that can be done legally about this? Or do we have to set up cameras and catch her in the act?
