We were together for many years but we were never married. There has never been any custody established so I thought I would have primary custody
A: Since you are unmarried, if there is no court order about parenting or custody, you have sole legal custody and get to make all the decisions. Father has no legal rights. He would have to establish paternity, go to court to seek parental rights, and if he does go to court, the court will likely order him to start paying child support.
