Yellow Springs, OH asked in Landlord - Tenant for Ohio

Q: Is it true that if I move prior to going to court, the eviction won't be on my credit report?

I owe rent for July & now August but fees added have made this unreachable with my other bills. I got behind because I had to purchase a car to get to work and I don't make enough to pay rent w/added fees, car insurance & payment!! I need to know if getting out of the rental prior to going to court can help me.

A: Once an eviction is filed in court, your name is in the public court records as defendant, even if you move out and the eviction is dismissed. The eviction could show up in your credit reports also. So try to negotiate with the landlord to avoid filing the eviction.
