Q: Is it legal to sign your spouses name on a legal document without your signature and indicating you are poa or spouse?

Located in Michigan. My Ex's wife filled out an enforcement of medical bills and signed his name without her signature and she did not indicate she was his wife or power of attorney.

A: It's almost always wrong to sign legal paperwork in someone else's name. However, even if you were able to prove what you say as true (wife's acknowledgement, handwriting expert, ect.), this won't stop or reverse the action your ex is seeking. Very likely, you two end up in court, where you tell the judge that you believe your ex's wife signed filled everything out and signed them. The judge may ask him if that's true; even if he says it is true, the judge will likely say something along the lines of "don't do that again". Other than that, the judge will want to know if he stands behind what is written in those documents. If he does, then there really is not much harm or foul. You have the chance the express your objection, and the judge will make a decision from there.
