Euless, TX asked in Probate for Texas

Q: Q: My father in law passed away last year, he was divorced and my husband is the only child. We went through probate

old the house and everything. Now the title company is saying my husband's mom gets half of the money from the house. There was no will and his mom lives in Missouri and had nothing to do with him or his dad. From what I read and what a previous lawyer told us before she has no legal right to any of it. Is this true or were we lied to? Again, there was no will and my husband is the only child and heir. I do not know if she is on the house title or not. If she is, does she get half?

A: Who was the house awarded to in the divorce? What kind of proceeding did you do in probate court, i.e. heirship, administration, etc.? Please give more details or consider consulting with an attorney capable of reviewing all documents, deed records, etc. and giving good advice.
