Q: Can i start a divorce in a different state of where the marriage took place?

Married in California....i moved to Georgia 2 months ago.

We have 3 children under 9

A: The place where you married isn't relevant to where you can file for divorce. In Georgia, you have to be a resident for at least 6 months before filing for divorce. You will have to wait 4 more months and then you can file for divorce. You can file for a separation, however.

A: In order to file the divorce in Georgia, you have to have been a resident in the state for at least six months prior to filing.
