Q: What to do when non custodial parent moves away with out notifying anyone

My ex husband (non custodial parent)has this job where he leaves for 2-3 months then comes back for a month or so then leaves again.Hes supposed to get kids every other weekend but doesnt, Sometimes seeing the kids for a weekend or 2 when hes here and sometimes not, depends on what his new wife wants. He last year, took this new job. Well Jan of this year he tells me he's going to Vermont, ok whatever, it's the normal. Well a month later I find out the job is a year and a half plus job and he has relocated to Vermont. Only to find out after that he's going to California for 5 years. He never notified me or system of his relocation. He pops in and out. anytime he decides he wants to see the kids he expects me to drop everything I'm doing so he can, i dont even know anymore when his week end is, ive jumped through hoops to keep him in the kids lives, adjusting my schedule on the drop of a dime, he just doesn't seem to care. I even tried to move closer but he won't allow me to leave Florida

A: Clearly you need to ask the court to revise the visitation schedule, so as to require him to give you reasonable notice of when he wants to have the kids, and to allow you to leave the state.
