Q: do I need a lawyer for juvenile court? My 12 year old son was with 2 older kids who were arrested for breaking into cars
The 2 other kids admitted that they were completely responsible and that my child had nothing to do with their actions. He was in a different city no way to contact me or any other adult or find his way back to the apartment he was staying at. Mentor on the lake police have now charged him with theft, receiving stolen property, and curfew violation.
A: Yes, your son should have an attorney. It is particularly important he have one if he is innocent. I know that sounds backwards. But, in a system that assumes guilt, which is what we actually have, the innocent are the ones who need a lawyer the most.
