Q: Roomates left after Hurricane because back door is missing and house was looted. Landlord is demanding rent. What do I?

I've been living in the same house for 5 months. rent was raised about 2 months ago when a new roomate moved in because he had 2 dogs. After hurricane they both left. There is still no power, the back sliding glass door of the house is smashed. And the house was looted multiple times and belongings were taken. I paid for a hotel out of pocket. Still have not had work becuse or the disaster. What should I do?

A: Whoever signed the lease is obligated to pay rent or face eviction. The hurricane and its damages and also the looting are not the fault of the landlord.
