Asked in Child Support for Florida

Q: Can my ex husband stop paying child support bc we moved out of state?

We have a court order 1 child support. 2 Not to move minor child from state but he never told me no! Our son is 17 years old. He threatened me when asked about support that he'd tell the court I took him without his permission . Our son hardly ever even spent time with him in this last couple years so I can't believe he's acting like this. He knows it was with good reason we moved and now using it as an excuse not to hold up his responsibility to his son

A: In Florida, child support and timesharing are two separate issues. He is obligated to continue paying child support no matter where you live. On the other hand, you can get in trouble with the court for moving away if that is contrary to your parenting plan.
