Reynoldsburg, OH asked in Child Custody for Ohio

Q: my cousin filed motion for full custody & i signed affidavit from her attorneys office who has custody before 1st hearig

my husbands cousin filed a motion for legal custody. i signed a affidavit from her attorneys office so did my husband & now she wont let me see my kids or speak to my kids & we dont go to court until the end of the month. do i still have custody as of right now before that court date? its the very first court date set for a hearing on this matter. she also wont let my family see my kids. i was wondering so i could go get my kids because she had to watch them for me while i was taking care of some other court issues. i took the papers to the cops they said i had to contact an attorney to see what they said so then they could verify who actually has custody at this time because in the papers i have it does not say she has custody right now and it dont say that i dont have custody. its not a emergency file either. it says you are hereby summoned that a complaint has been filed in this court by (husbands cuz) then her attorney address and then the court date, time, location & it a pretrial

A: If the police advised you to speak with an attorney, then use the Find a Lawyer tab and consult a local attorney to review the situation and advise you.
