Q: I'm 17, turn 18 soon. Still highschool under my dad's care. Want to live with mom. Could my dad keep me till I graduate?

I am 17, I turn 18 next month. I am still in highschool and I live with my dad. Our house is unsanitary, he takes my money I earn from work and I can never get any sleep due to how loud he keeps the TV. My grades are being affected because I no longer have time for homework in order to keep up with the expenses he asks me to pay for. I would like to live with my mom. There is no child support for me. Could my dad keep me until I graduate even if I don't want to?

A: Your parents must follow the terms of any parenting order issued by the court. If you want changes, then your mother would have to ask the court to make the changes, and the court would hold a hearing to determine if a change is in your best interest. If your mother wants to do that, she should use the Find a Lawyer tab to consult a local family law attorney.
