Fort Lauderdale, FL asked in Contracts and Employment Law for Florida

Q: As an employer, am I required to give notice within a certain amount days on why they will not receive their final paych

The employee was fired. The employee signed an agreement to pay for "lost" items given at hire. And we are in the middle of a litigation from an accident caused by the employee. Also, signed an agreement to pay for expenses incurred from accident. Final paycheck is $195. Not including accident, nothing has happened yet, he owes the company $150. We were going to keep the $45 towards the "accident" expenses.

A: I strongly suggest that you consult with an employment law attorney on this issue. I suggest that you use the find a lawyer feature to locate one in your area and have the agreements you referenced reviewed by the employment law attorney. I do not handle employment law issues and I can't answer your question as my first step would be to review the documents also. Thus consult with an attorney from your area right away.
