Chicago, IL asked in Car Accidents and Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: Someone hit my car and was not issued a ticket, he is claiming that it is not his fault because he did not recieve one

I was in the left turning lane and got the green arrow and started to go. While going a car in the lane to the right of me going straight decided to make a left turn and came into my lane and hit me. A police report was made but the officer did not issue a ticket. The driver said that he would pay for it and didnt want to go through insurance. Now he is saying that since he did not get a ticket it is not his fault, is that true? How should i go about this? He hit me, i broke no law. He did cross a solid white line and i had the right away.

A: Using his logic, you didn't get a ticket so it's automatically his fault. Hes in the wrong. Use your collision to get damages fixed. However before disputing say you want pictures of hiscar. Why? because they may show how he hit you togehter with yours.

See if the intersection has a camera and go in person to ask if you can see /get a copy of images for time of the wreck.
