San Jose, CA asked in Landlord - Tenant for California

Q: I live with the landlord in her house and one other female tenant. A 100 dollar bill was taken from my room. Now what?

No one else was in the house when this occurred. Only them. I confronted the landlord and she was clueless and defensive. I have not approached the other roommate. Not sure what my legal rights are. The money was in a cookie tin in a dresser in my room. It occurred when I was gone for two nights over Saturday and Sunday

A: You can call your local police department and report the theft. Let them do the investigation. But learn from the situation. Always keep your cash on your person.
