Q: Case of personal injury where the first responder managed to double bills by transferring to another hospital.
I got hit by a car (I had the go sign, right turning driver from the other road didn't even check for pedestrians, police report put the driver at 100% responsibility) and was in a state of shock, with later amnesia from the time of accident to when I woke up in hospital a day later. I was uninsured. I found out later that on the day of accident I have first been brought to another hospital, who later charged me emergency and radiology services. Then they dropped me off at another hospital, who also charged me emergency services and radiology. The first hospital should've noticed after the imaging that my injuries were not severe. Their course of action resulted in my bills doubling to 70-75k$. Shouldn't they avoid an unnecessary inflation of bills? Especially if something is not medically warranted.
