A: I try to answer all questions with information that would be useful to others seeking to answer the same type of question.

So the answer is that you can check the assignment database maintained by the USPTO. People are supposed to record assignments here and may suffer consequences if they do not. However, as we are relying on people to record their assignments, there can be gaps in the information.

Go to https://assignment.uspto.gov/patent/index.html#/patent/search

Select "Patent Number" as the search term

Enter the patent number.

Hit enter.

In this case the records show the current assignee as Progress Ultrasonics AG of Switzerland.

NOTE -- you can also see this information in Google Patents https://patents.google.com/patent/US9243477B2/en but since Google Patents is getting the information from checking the USPTO data base, I do not know how quickly a change reaches Google.

You can also see the assignee from a more comprehensive system run by the USPTO called Public PAIR https://portal.uspto.gov/pair/PublicPair.

While the US patent will have the assignee printed on the front page, this information reflects the assignee of record as of the date the patent was issued. So this information may not be current.

I hope this helps.
