Q: At what age in the state of Illinois could a kid determine who they live?
If so what does the judge have to state if she over rules that decision (why did she overrule the decision)
A: There are procedures to have yourself declared an emancipated minor. Other than those, if the issue is custody a judge looks at what parent is likely to provide for you better, to oversee you better, and frankly to provide discipline better. Your thoughts would be taken into consideration but aren't decisive. Understand if you are emancipated that also means no one has to support you.
