Riverside, CA asked in Medical Malpractice for California

Q: My elderly father lost 8 pounds in 7 days while he was recovering from a feeding tube surgery and died.

My father had a feeding tube put in and was in a skilled nursing facility recovering. The facility was trying to discharge him when we was rushed to the ER and died. I can't believe 1. They never notified me as to his poor health 2. Moreover they were trying to send him home in said state. He was severely underweight/malnourished, had pneumonia and was septic.

Furthermore, Community Care and Licensing investigated (at my request) and found several deficiencies at his care facility. I want them to be held accountable. Do I have a case? What type of attorney?

I don't have his death certificate but the hospital lists Cause of Death:

acute UGIB due to Barrets esophagus

acute respiratory failure due to PNA

PNA

severe protein malnutrition

A: This sounds like a claim based on Elder Abuse (aka dependent adult abuse). What was the stated cause of death?
