Asked in Child Support for Oklahoma

Q: My husband spouse is suppose to pay child support but is in arears. We sometimes get some and othertimes not.

There is only 1 minor child left in our home. She also owes $14,000 in back child support. DHS has garnished her wages but she keeps changing jobs.... How can we go forward with getting her to pay on time and the right amount? My husband has full parental custody of the 2 children in our home -- my stepdaughter just aged out but my stepson is 16. The Ex wife is suppose to pay $500 per month ($50 of that goes towards the back support). We never get it at the same time each month and the amount is always different. Last month we got $300 and this month we got a little over $200. It seems like she tells DHS a sob story and they adjust the amount... I did not think this was legal. It is very frustrating of course -

A: The solution is to hire an attorney to file a contempt action. You have to stay on top of it and be very proactive. An attorney can help you get this done.

A: DHS can't legally change child support without notifying you.

You should consult an experienced Family Law Attorney, in your area, for help with this problem as soon as you can. Good luck.
