Decatur, IL asked in Family Law for Illinois

Q: My sister lost her kids. The paternal grandparents adopted them. Do i get visitation rights?

Currently my house is a "reward" that can be lost as a punishment. I feel me and my nieces are being forced to kiss butt of the grandma in control

A: You have no independent legal right to visitation your nieces and nephews. If the grandparents adopted them, the grandparents are considered to be the parents of the kids, and parents get to determine who can see their children.
