Boca Raton, FL asked in Divorce and Child Support for Florida

Q: my ex's lawyer has been suspended from practicing law by the State Law board.. My lawyer said we are stuck. Is it true?

My ex husband lawyer was suspended..while we were in the middle of presenting or demanding the mandatory financial report . My ex had gave my lawyer the affidavit but it was incomplete. He missed all the docs reflecting expenses such as : bank statements, car lease copy, rent lease copy and paystubs and taxes. My lawyer requested mandatory report and my ex had 30 days to produce all these docs..the 30 days were up on 11/30/2017. Few days before 11/30/2017 ..my lawyer receives a letter from Law board state informing her my ex husband lawyer has been suspended. The mandatory report got frozen,,my ex did not present anything. We are now at 01/01/2018 and we still dont know anything from my ex or his lawyer. My lawyer said we are stuck. Because we need to wait for his lawyer to drop my case or my ex to hire a new attorney or inform us if he will represent himself. Meanwhile I have been waiting since November .. The law does not give any options?? all this time my ex can use it on his favor

A: Normally the court will set a deadline for the other party to either get another lawyer or represent themselves. Usually not more than 30 days.
