Ventura, CA asked in Sexual Harassment for California

Q: Is this sexual harassment?

So I'm 17 and I almost dated a coworker who is 18 and also a position above me. Realizing this wasn't a good idea, I changed my mind and now he's angry that I wouldn't sleep with him. He's been saying some pretty nasty things about me to my coworkers, boss and even my best friend and writing me up for small things that never happened. I had another coworker tell me he's trying to get me fired. Is this sexual harassment or should I not tell my boss and let it go?

A: It sounds like sexual harassment which you should report to your boss or supervisor (not the harasser). You should also check out the website for the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, because you can file a complaint with the agency after you report the incidents to your employer's higher supervisory staff. Cut and paste this into your browser: https://www.dfeh.ca.gov/

A: Yes, that is sexual harassment. If your company has an HR department, go and make a complaint immediately.
