Citrus Heights, CA asked in Landlord - Tenant for California

Q: Landlord threatened eviction over broken toilet, started a bonfire on property and hired worker who attacked my husband.

When my plumbing broke I was left without a shower or toilet. The landlord blamed me and told me to wait 2 days to a week before she would send anyone or else I would have to pay for it or find somewhere else to live. She also hired a group of random (a suspect drunk men) to cut down a dead tree that had been threatening to fall on or bedroom for months. The worker made a mistake and part of the tree came through our wall. They laughed about it. Later my husband asked the landlord for an apology (the landlord and her husband were both there). At this point the landlords and their friends were standings around a bonfire they set. The worker later attacked my husband. The police and fire dept were called (they left the fire unattended and it had to be put out). We left in a hurry because we felt so unsafe. We still gave notice and paid up on rent but landlord is wanting to charge us to clean/repair other damages. What legal action can we take?
