Jacksonville, FL asked in Traffic Tickets for Georgia

Q: Cook County, GA- 20 over- Citation reads I Must appear in court. What are my options?

I was going 20 MPH in on the way home to Florida. No fine amount listed, but the citation states I must appear in court. What are my options? What information do I need to bring? And what's the worst that can happen?

A: First I am so sorry to hear that you got a ticket. Lets help.

1. You must come to court or hire an attorney that may excuse your presence in court.

2. You must bring your identification and of course your self if you don't have an attorney.

3. Worst case scenario. You don't come to court or have an attorney. You get a bench warrant for failure to appear. Your license is then suspended for failing to appear and if you are ever stopped by law enforcement you can get arrested. Then, your next court date won't be until you are transferred back to the county that gave you the actual ticket. The worst i've ever seen is 2 weeks on a traffic citation because someone was arrested out of state.

I hope it helps. The money you save in getting an attorney to handle this will be far more the money lost from missing work or traveling for the ticket. BEST ADVICE. GET A LAWYER!!! I hope it helps.
