West Bloomfield, MI asked in Contracts and Landlord - Tenant for Florida

Q: Signed a lease and the amenities I was promised when touring aren't available

So I signed a lease somewhere and when touring, I was told there was going to be an awesome fitness center and business center. I am two months into my lease and they are still not available. In the contract it says there is a gym and business center there but there is also one sentence that says "Owner reserves the right to set the days and hours of use for all Amenities and to change the character of or close any Amenity based upon the needs of Owner and in Owner's sole and absolute discretion, without notice, obligation or recompense of any nature to Resident. Owner and management may make changes to the Rules for use of any Amenity at any time."

Am I able to do anything?

A: Based upon what you state possibly no. However you should consult with a local attorney to have your signed contract reviewed. There might be an option available depending upon the promises made if it an be shown that you were promised something to induce you to rent and now they owner claims it is not available.

Good luck.
