Lexington, KY asked in Domestic Violence for Pennsylvania

Q: How do I get justice for what has been done to me by my stepdad? (19 years old victim of domestic violence for past 9yr)

I am a victim of domestic violence. My Step-father was a drunk, narcissistic, physical, sociopath who emotionally, physically, and verbally abused my mother, sister, and I for 9 years. Last march was the final straw when he punched my sister and mom in the face and I had to run to grab my 5 year old brother to take him out of the house and the police were called. Our pfas are pretty much up at this point and my step-father unfortunately has a lot of money and was able to get around the charges , I'm just wondering where is my justice. I have severe depression and was diagnosed with ptsd from his abuse. The idiot wrote me a letter this christmas admitting his abuse and apologizing even though he has continued his attitude toward all of us. I can no longer live a normal life and it is not okay. Through high school I slept at various friends houses because I was not safe in my own home.

A: You can consult with a personal injury attorney to see if your have any recourse. respectfully, I also strongly urge you to engage in therapy to find a way to help yourself move on. What happened to you is truly awful, but you owe yourself the opportunity to have a full life despite what happened.
