Lakeland, FL asked in Consumer Law, Real Estate Law and Landlord - Tenant for Florida

Q: My wife and I moved to Lakeland and purchased a mobile home in 11/1/16. we have yet to receive title to this mobile home

My wife and I moved to Lakeland and purchased a mobile home in 11/1/16. we have yet to receive title to this mobile home located at Citrus Colony Center (CCC). After Irma hit us we applied for relief from FEMA we received our final notice from them today stating that our application is denied as they can not verify our ownership of the property prior to Irma. Just an estimate to repair our bathroom and kitchen and to bring everything up to code for just these two rooms is $7,000 and approximately $20,000 for the whole house including the roof. Since we did not have title of this property we can not pay any of the taxes, the taxes were last paid by CCC in 2016. we have been paying our lot rent for the last 15 months in full and on time.

A: Very sorry for your situation. you need to consult with an attorney near your area. I can's say what an attorney will recommend or if anything can be done but I think that it is worth a consult at least. (I cannot assist you as I am located in NW Florida, and you need someone in your local area).

Good Luck,
