Boca Raton, FL asked in Landlord - Tenant for Florida

Q: I am about to move into a "studio" apt as a "house guest". What does this mean and is it legitamite?

I am a student at my university and am talking to the landlord to move into what looks like maybe a home turned into smaller studio apartments. The owner or landlord said I would fill out a house guest application to move in. I wanted to know what this means, is this a real lease? Will this be any trouble in the future?

A: No way to say for sure without first seeing the document but it sounds like it is not a formal lease. ie: you will not be secure as you would be as a tenant with a formal lease agreement.

Take the agreement to an attorney I. Your area for an evaluation of the lease.
