Atlanta, GA asked in Child Custody and Child Support for Georgia

Q: If the Custodial parent quits their job, am I responsible for 100% of the child's care?

We have joint custody, but she is the custodial parent. She moved out of the school district without mediation per the parenting agreement. Now she is saying that if I dint like the school she will transfer to, I can just pay for private school. She said that she is probably going to quit her job and therefore I would be responsible for 100% of my childs care. It's currently 60/40% (mine being the 60%). She has a law degree, but works as a paralegal.

A: Your child support obligation is what you are required to pay. Beyond that is up to you. Talk to an attorney about a modification if she's moving somewhere where you have concerns about the school.
