I bought a duplex in mid December. One of the tenants are on Section 8 and were issued a termination of tenancy notice on November 1 stating that she needed to be out by January 30. She is 76 and did not start looking for a place until the end of January. We gave her a one month extension that ended February 28. She is still in the duplex and said she cannot find a place. At this point we are losing money and having to supplement costs out of pocket. We do not want to evict her but think that is our only option. She said if we evict, she will call the media on us. What are our options? We live in Sacramento. Are there any laws that would prevent us from evicting her because of her age or the fact her health is not good? Tenants on both sides of the duplex were issued a notice of termination of tenancy. The other tenants have since vacated their unit.
