Houston, TX asked in Contracts and Business Law for Florida

Q: Please see below

I am a sub contractor and have been working for a general contractor that I signed documents for in the beginning of working for them. When I told them I no longer wanted to do business together he told me I signed a 2 year agreement as well as a non compete. I had no idea that these papers were that as I did not read them and only went off what he said. As well as a contract for a $1000 iPad. If I get general liability insurance today and get sued tomorrow or weeks down the road will that insurance cover me since the policy will be so new?

A: There is no way to know without first reviewing the contract that you signed. I don't think that a general liability policy you take out tomorrow will cover you unless it specifically provides for past acts.

You need to consult with a lawyer on this. There is way too many issues to try to give advice of something a serious as being sued.
