Q: Soon to be ex husband put his name on a car with new girlfriend paid for by Girlfriend. Would I have 50/50 rights to it?
His Girlfriend bought a new car, he says she used her own money but his name is down as a co signer. Would that come up in the divorce as an asset purchased while we were married and would I have rights to half of the car?
A: If you can prove that he used marital funds to purchase the car then you can try and recover half of what he used. If he did not use marital funds or if he only co-signed but gave no money then there is nothing to recover.
