A: Who paid those bills? Did father pay those bills and is now trying to collect reimbursement from you? Was he paying child support? Was he current? Did your child have any other sources of money that could be used to pay those bills out of the child's estate? Usually there is nothing in a custody decree about who pays funeral expenses, but if it mentions splitting other miscellaneous expenses, then father would have to go to court and sue you for reimbursement - but it is unclear if that would be in domestic relations, probate, or perhaps small claims or municipal court.
