Asked in Child Support for Georgia

Q: How can I get my fiancé off child support if my child is on Medicaid ?

I filed on the 1st of March of this year , I didn’t know that you couldn’t modify or change the court order if your child was receiving Medicaid . My fiancé and I are in the process of moving in together and I want him to be able to be free. I gave him a month to redeem himself but I should’ve did more research. Btw I’m only 22. I wasn’t aware.

A: It may not be possible to do what you want to do. If you marry, then he can be taken off child support, but as long as you are receiving government services, then the court has to ensure that the child is receiving child support.
