Tinley Park, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: I am an Illinois resident and just received a speeding ticket in Iowa 29 over, First in 35 yrs. Any advice is welcome.

Should I plead guilty and just pay the Iowa ticket on-line?

A: You should contact an Iowa attorney and see if that attorney can get the ticket amended to a speed less then 26 mph over. 26 mph or more over in Illinois is a Misdemeanor offense and if you have one on your record and get another one, ever in your lifetime, you will be limited as to what you can do with that second high ticket. Having an Iowa attorney get the speed reduced will save you any issues in the future.
