Alhambra, CA asked in Civil Rights, Elder Law and Probate for California

Q: Who can help me file a civil suit

My father died and my stepmother got tricked by her granddaughter into signing my childhood home to her and took all of the money. She is being guarded and influenced in a way that is not in her best interest. I should have inherited half of his estate. Should I file probate or civil suit and who can help me.

A: You need to contact a probate attorney who litigates matters such as this, and do it right away. There are numerous attorneys in Los Angeles County who can help you. Go to the website of the Los Angeles County Bar Association referral service (https://www.smartlaw.org/) and ask for a referral to a probate lawyer who can help you. You can use the pull down menu to select "probate/estate administration" lawyer and then follow through with your referral request.
