Pomona, CA asked in Child Custody, Child Support, Domestic Violence and Family Law for California

Q: What are my legal options in this child support debacle?

I do not live with my family, but I am still married and I want to live with them. My husband has a mental disorder and it affects his decision making skills. In a very backwards situation, my husband hit me, I went to jail for it, and he continued the food stamp process I had begun, but left me off of the case. Now, as I do not have physical custody of my children, I am being ordered to pay child support. I have no income. Since we are still married, I do not want to use any legal actions to take custody from him, nor do I want to subject my children to that. What are my options?
