Jackson, MS asked in Family Law for Louisiana

Q: I have full custody of my daughter her dad only comes around once or twice a year shes not doing good in school and he

wants to come take her to an event. (He has no visitation rights set because he would never show up to court) I’ve already told her and him that if her grades are still d’s and F’s then she can’t go. He thinks I’m punishing him and his defense is (I already paid for the tickets) I want her to spend time with him and I want her to understand she can’t be rewarded for bad grades. (She’s 14) I’m not trying to be ugly or start anything. She knew a month ago that if she didn’t bring 2d’s and an f up she would not be able to go. I want her to understand that is not acceptable. I tried to get him to agree to not bring her to the event but she could still spend time with him but he will not agree. Am I wrong for not letting/wanting her to go?

A: That's a moral, not legal, decision, but a reasonable one.
