A: GREAT QUESTION, as speeding tickets and traffic citations in North Carolina deserve a careful analysis into insurance and DMV issues.

A clean record certainly helps; but, one needs to also consider "at fault wrecks" and prior tickets and accidents of other motorists on the insurance policy and possibly living in the household.

An IE or "improper equipment" might be a good way to handle the ticket. At the same time, each prosecutorial district has different preferences and ways of handling things.

Put simply, what might work in Charlotte NC may not be the preferred protocol in Wake County / Raleigh.

BEST BET: Talk to an experienced criminal defense attorney (traffic lawyer) ASAP to discuss your options. Many, if not most, defense lawyers provide a FREE CONSULTATION for criminal charges and traffic tickets.

A: If the address on your ticket is correct - you will likely get a crap ton of letters from traffic attorneys. You do not need F. Lee Bailey for a minor 60/45 speeding infraction, so pick the cheapest one and go with that.
