Schenectady, NY asked in Personal Injury for New York

Q: Trying to keep up with a student, I feel over another student. can the parent sue?

I work in a high needs program in a school district. One of my students were being unsafe began to run through the halls. In an effort not to lose sight of her as well as I felt she was going to attack another student, I began to chase her. I accidentally bumped into another student. We fell. The nurse reported he was fine. The mother told me today he needed to go to the ER a few times. This happened approximately 3 weeks ago and I happen to see the mother as she is employed within the district.

A: Anyone can sue.Unlikely to in this case because you don't have money so who will pay? Also they have to show you were careless. Fact you fell means that you could be careless but maybe not--you were trying to stop a possibly unsafe person.
